2006 Year at a Glance
2006 was the year of many changes. We began the year as The Pets911 Auxiliary and emerged in June as Phoenix Animal Care Coalition, PACC911!
This change was initiated by many factors, the first being the sale of PETS911 by its former owners. We saw this as the right time to separate and grow our organization by creating our own identity and having our own website, geared primarily to PACC911 activities and operations. We hope you enjoy the new site and all the information we have compiled as we continue “Uniting the Pet Rescue Community”!
It was also important to us that our work did not miss a beat during this time of change and transition, and we are happy to say that no adoption events were missed, our fundraiser, Bowl-A-Rama, was more successful than ever before, and our Emergency Medical Fund paid out more money to the rescue community than any previous year!
A few figures to boast!
Due to PACC911 adoption events this year, 864 animals were placed in new loving homes. We believe this to be a conservative figure, as we often do not get much feedback from our partner groups following events, and many adoptions continue to happen as aftermath. Note that over the last two years a total of 1510 animals have been placed. We are thrilled for those lives saved!
The Emergency Medical Fund (EMF) paid out a record $54,000 this year. Since the fund’s inception 3 years ago, a total of $98,000 has been paid to the rescue groups in our community, saving countless lives.
Bowl-A-Rama, in its 4th year, brought in a whopping $240,000! The majority of this money went directly to the rescue groups in pledge money they raised, while PACC911 made close to $40,000 in sponsorships, going into our EMF fund!
Over its lifetime, Bowl-A-Rama has garnered an unbelievable $700,000 all directly helping the animals in rescue care!
And more good work!
In addition to our normal operations, PACC911 worked with a benevolent donor who wished to give back to the rescue community. We implemented a plan to help while still keeping the donor anonymous, as was his wish. We did the letters, the mailings, and the legwork. The end result benefited 18 groups who received additional funding for their life saving work for animals. Surely this was a worthwhile activity.
Online, we started our PACC911 store with great items for sale to help fund the EMF. A Pay pal account was set up for easy shopping from the site.
We coined the phrase… “Join the PACC and be a PACC Partner!” It’s working! Our partner list continues to grow!
In October, quite an honor was bestowed upon me as I was named the Hero of the year by “FACES” (Friends of Animal Care and Control), the fundraising arm of Maricopa County Animal Care and Control. PACC’s work was recognized and praised! I shared the limelight this evening with another member of the PACC family who was also recognized in the PET hero category! “Rocket” was chosen as a true hero and survivor. Rocket had been badly abused and abandoned and was almost near death before being rescued by AC & C. One of our own board members, Barb Steele later adopted him and both are flourishing! At any rate, PACC911 was well seen at this award gala for 2006!
All of this took place while we had a name change, created a new website, new logo, new brochures, and complete new image!
To accomplish all of this, I sincerely thank the dedicated PACC911 board members for rising to the occasion during our transition! All the changes were made internally by utilizing the talents of our very own board! Indeed this saved us much money and time. This also enabled us to use our money as it is most needed… for the EMF, rather than spending on outside services.
On that note, I should add that The PACC911 organization operates with a very low expense factor all of the time! We take no salaries and have no official “office”, allowing us to give approximately 98% of our money directly to the cause we believe in…the animals and their well being.
We ended our year with our annual holiday meeting and had a larger than ever turnout from our partner groups. We thank them for all their wonderful efforts, and it is our commitment for the New Year to continue our work, uniting the pet rescue community and enabling them to save more precious lives.
Happy New Year to all.
